Parts of Mohali powerless due to grid fire – Henry’s Club

Several residential and industrial areas remained in the dark for several hours in the scorching heat as a fire broke out in the electricity grid in Phase 1 on Tuesday. Power was yet to be restored in some areas till the time of writing this news.

The fire started at around 4 pm on Tuesday due to heating of the oil. Later a major fault occurred, causing supply disruption in areas including Phase 5, Phase 4, Phase 3, Phase 1B2, Mohali village and industrial areas. Superintending Engineer (SE) Ashwini Kumar said the load would be shifted to other lines to restore power in the affected areas. Water supply was also affected in some areas due to non-operation of motors.

Meanwhile, the department said in a statement that a power transformer got damaged on Phase 1, which would also affect the supply to Phase 1, 2, 4, 5, Budmajra, Balangi, Sector 56, Sector 57, Sector 39 West…. The supply in these areas will be done on rotation basis and power cut is to be done by June 16, the statement said.
