Parts of UAE declare Eid al-Fitr holiday for 9 days – Henry Club

DUBAI: Government sector employers in four emirates in the United Arab Emirates have announced a break of 9 days for Eid Al Fitr starting next Saturday.

The longer break will be applicable for government sector employees in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.

The holiday will begin on Saturday, 30 April and end on Sunday, 8 May. Official working hours will resume on Monday, May 9.

Eid al-Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal, the month following Ramadan in the Hijri calendar.

According to astronomical calculations, this year the Islamic feast is expected to fall on May 2.
