It is impossible to achieve peace without power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told soldiers in Kargil, even as he said his government has always considered war as the last option. PM Modi is in Kargil to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers posted there.
PM Modi said, “We have always considered war as the last option. Be it in Lanka or Kurukshetra, every effort was made to stop it till the end. We are in favor of world peace.”
The Prime Minister addressed the soldiers as his “family” and said he could not have celebrated Diwali better without them. He also praised their bravery and said that there has been no war with Pakistan where Kargil has not seen victory.
“The sweetness and brightness of my Diwali are among you,” he told the soldiers.
Praising the fight against terrorism, he said, Drass, Batalik and Tiger Hill have been the witnesses of his courage. “Our soldiers have succeeded in suppressing terrorism in Kargil. I am a witness to this incident,” he said.
He said, “India is now respected globally. When you protect our borders, we are taking a tough stand against our enemies. If we are challenged, our armed forces will give the enemy theirs. Knows how to give a befitting reply in the language. ,
The Prime Minister, who has been celebrating Diwali at various military facilities since coming to power in 2014, said the three defense forces – Army, Navy and Air Force – have taken steps to reduce their dependence on imported equipment.
“The country is safe when its borders are secure and the economy is strong. In the last seven-eight years, India’s economy has jumped from 10th to fifth position,” he said.
In war-torn Ukraine, the Indian flag became a protective shield for civilians stranded there, PM Modi said.
Hitting out at the previous governments over corruption, he said that misgovernance has limited the country’s potential for development.
“Today the country is fighting a decisive battle against corruption. No matter how powerful the corrupt may be, it cannot survive, it will not survive. Misgovernance has long limited the country’s potential and put obstacles in our way. development,” PM Modi said.
On the induction of women cadets into the armed forces, the Prime Minister said, “Our power is going to increase with the entry of our daughters into the Indian Army.”
The Prime Minister reached Kargil earlier in the day and also extended Diwali greetings on social media.
He tweeted, “Wishing everyone a very Happy Diwali. Diwali is associated with sparkle and shine. May this auspicious festival bring forth the spirit of happiness and prosperity in our lives. I hope you have a wonderful Diwali with family and friends.”
