People-friendly policing is priority: AP Home Minister

Tanati Vanitha on Monday took charge as the Minister of Home and Disaster Management at the Secretariat at Velagapudi near here.

On the occasion, Ms. Vanitha said that she will take measures to improve transparency and ensure prompt response and accountability in the Police Department.

“The aim is to make the police people friendly. The state government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has undertaken several administrative reforms. Administration has been decentralised. Steps have been taken to ensure that everyone gets justice without any discrimination,” the minister said.

Ms. Vanitha further said that the efforts of the Chief Minister to make the Police Department public-friendly have started showing results. After signing a file seeking immediate permission to people coming to meet the accused and criminals in jails, he said, “topmost priority will be given to the resolution of the problems of the people.”

Principal Secretary (Home) Kumar Vishwajeet and others were present on the occasion.
