Food and beverage company PepsiCo India making additional investment 186 crore at its largest greenfield food manufacturing plant in Mathura for capacity expansion.
As part of the plan, PepsiCo India will increase the capacity of its state-of-the-art food plant by setting up a new manufacturing line for its nacho chip brand Doritos. PepsiCo’s total investment tops in Uttar Pradesh with fresh investment 1,022 crores.
PepsiCo India’s food manufacturing plant at Kosi Kalan in Mathura was commissioned in September 2021, built at a cost of Rs. 814 crores. The plant also manufactures Pepsi’s potato chips brand Lays.
“A strong backward integration program is also being developed involving over 5,000 local potato farmers. In addition, the Kosi plant has provided a source of livelihood to thousands of supply chain partners, wholesalers and retailers. The plant is envisioned to create over 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities and is promoting diversity with a target of at least 30% female workforce,” the company said.
PepsiCo, which entered India in 1989, sells food and beverage brands such as Pepsi, Lays, Kurkure, Tropicana, Gatorade and Quaker. PepsiCo competes with ITC and Coca-Cola in India.
