The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking a direction to the Madurai district administration to provide toilets and other facilities for the devotees visiting the Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple.
A division bench of Justice Pushpa Satyanarayana and Justice P. Velmurugan directed the petitioner, M. Solaikanan of Madurai, to approach the authorities concerned with the request or seek permission from the authorities for providing basic facilities to the public.
The petitioner had complained that the mobile toilets on East Chithirai Street and South Chithirai Street were closed for the past few months. He said that they were not being properly maintained.
