Petrol and diesel prices for the day, October 2, remain the same. However, due to the increase in inflation rates in India, the central government has delayed the imposition of an additional excise duty of Rs 2 per liter on unmixed petrol and diesel. According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the additional excise duty has been delayed by one month and will be implemented from November 1.
As per the latest update released by Oil Corporations India Every day at 6 am in Delhi on Sunday the price is Rs 96.72 per liter, while the price of diesel is Rs 89.62 per litre. Fuel prices are skyrocketing above Rs 100 in several cities including Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Petrol and diesel in Mumbai are being sold at Rs 106.31 and Rs 94.27 per liter respectively. Petrol in Chennai costs Rs 102.63 per liter while diesel costs Rs 94.24 per litre. The price of petrol in Kolkata is Rs 106.03 per liter and diesel at Rs 92.76 per litre.
Earlier, the Meghalaya government had announced a hike of Rs 1.5 in fuel prices.
Public sector oil marketing companies Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited revise fuel prices daily. Prices vary on several factors including VAT, local taxes and freight charges.
