IThe Indian Railway Institute of Disaster Management (IRIDM) conducted a real-time mock drill on 24 November at Hejjala near Bengaluru.

The drill was a part of the 5-day Advanced Training in Disaster Management for the officers and staff of Indian Railways, which was conducted from 21-25 November.

The exercise was conducted in collaboration with South Western Railway, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) fire services and civil defence.

This advanced training, first of its kind on such a large scale, was conducted by the drawing officers and supervisory officers from across the Indian Railways.

The drill simulates a situation with more than 100 casualties, using around 6 condemned coaches and requires coordination in disaster management among key players like Accident Relief Train (ART) supervisors, safety consultants, ART staff and cranes. The position of the fire is also included to create appreciation for. Driver.
