When Hollywood actor William Shatner flies to space on a Blue Origin suborbital rocket tomorrow, he’ll be carrying a little StarTravel with them. Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk in the cult classic TV series StarTravel, is due to become the first member of the iconic show’s cast to make a guest journey aboard the Blue Origin suborbital rocket. Mr Bezos revealed this in an Instagram post shared this morning by thanking William Shatner – or “Bill” – for agreeing to take his childhood toys into space.
Jeff Bezos shared a photo and then a glimpse of Star Trek with William Shatner, writing, “When I was 9, I made these tricorders and communicators to play Star Trek with my friends, and my The unbelievable mother saved him for 48 years.” The tools he designed nearly five decades ago.
In the fictional universe of Star Trek, a tricorder is a multifunction handheld device issued by the Starfleet organization, while communicators were used for voice communication.
Mr Bezos reveals that his mother ditched his old Star Trek paper equipment and William Shatner agreed to take them into space. “Please don’t judge me for the artwork. Thanks, Bill!” Written by the founder of Blue Origin.

Blue Origin’s decision to invite one of the most recognizable galaxy-faring characters from science fiction for its second crewed flight has helped keep excitement around the nascent space tourism sector.
At the age of 90, William Shatner will become the oldest person to go into space. Their journey will take them and the NS-18 rocket crew past the 62-mile (100-kilometer) high Karman Line, where they will experience four minutes of weightlessness and observe the curvature of the planet.
