PM Modi inaugurates Pragati Maidan tunnel in Delhi, big relief to commuters

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the main tunnel and five underpasses of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor project in New Delhi today, June 19. The 1.6 kilometer long Pragati Maidan tunnel will ease traffic movement for commuters traveling to India Gate and other central stations. Areas of Delhi from East Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad. The area has been acting as a bottleneck over the years by stopping the movement of traffic between Central Delhi and the adjoining areas of East Delhi. The tunnel is expected to bring great relief to the daily wagers working at Connaught Place, Chanakyapuri in India Gate area of ​​Delhi.

The tunnel begins near the National Sports Complex of India (NSCI) on Purana Quila Road and passes under the Pragati Maidan area, which merges with the Ring Road near Pragati Power Station, leaving no red lights and traffic. There is direct access between the two areas.

The tunnel and five underpasses have been completely built by the central government at a cost of over Rs 920 crore. The tunnel also has murals depicting Indian culture, birds and the six seasons in different parts of the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

Pragati Maidan and the surrounding area is known for many famous and iconic buildings, which attract tourists as well as employees. This area includes Bhairon Temple, Orana Fort, National Zoo, Supreme Court, India Gate, Museum and other important roads like Mathura Road which are heavily trafficked.
