With few months left for Uttar Pradesh’s 2022 elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address a mega-rally, the day the BJP’s ambitious ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ ends after visiting every district and assembly constituency in the state. . According to sources, PM Modi’s ‘public meeting’ is expected to be held in Lucknow.
Beginning the election campaign for Uttar Pradesh, the top BJP leadership will lead six ‘Jan Vishwas Yatras’, which will begin on December 19 and are expected to continue for 14 days. The leaders will ensure that the yatras reach every district and people know what the state government and the Center have done for their welfare.
The BJP had started a similar ‘Parivartan Yatra’ ahead of the 2017 state assembly elections.
“We will reach out to the people to know what we did and what we plan to do to ensure that the state will never be counted as ‘bimaru pradesh’. It also gives us an idea about the sentiments of the people about the party and the government,” said another senior party leader.
Jan Vishwas Yatra will be held in six zones. In the West Zone, Union Minister Nitin Gadkar will start the campaign from Bijnor and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Mathura in the Brij region. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will witness the launch from Jhansi in ‘Kanpur region’, while party president JP Nadda will be in Ambedkar Nagar in ‘Awadh region’. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be in-charge of Ballia in ‘Gorakhpur region’, while Union Minister Smriti Irani will flag off the yatra from Ghazipur in ‘Kashi region’.
“We are waiting for the confirmation to be finalized on the day on which PM Modi will address the ‘huge public meeting’ – the day when all the six yatras will end. Rest of the programs can be changed based on the convenience of the central leaders,” said a senior party leader involved in the process.
According to those with knowledge of the programme, the ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ will cover every district and assembly constituency and there will be a one-day stay for the participants in one constituency. Six programs have been planned for each yatra in which BJP will involve Union ministers and top leadership.
Each ‘zone’ has three MPs and MLAs who plan routes and other details. According to sources, a meeting will be held in the evening to finalize the ‘yatra’ chart.
Voting for 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh is to be held early next year. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has already concluded his tour of the state with his ‘Vijay Yatra’.
