PM Modi to receive the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Memorial Award in Mumbai today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Mumbai on Sunday to receive the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award at the annual 80th Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award ceremony.

The new award will be presented to Modi at a function jointly organized by Late Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smriti Pratishthan, Pune and Hridayesh Arts.

The new award and other award winners were announced here by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar at an event to be presided over by Usha Mangeshkar on the 80th death anniversary of her father, Master Deenanath Mangeshkar on April 24.

The awards in various fields were nurtured and honored for 32 years by Late Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away here on 6 February.

The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award will be given to only one person every year, as decided by the family trustees, and the inaugural honor will be conferred on the Prime Minister in a special individual category.

Late Deenanath Mangeshkar Award will be given to Rahul Deshpande, (Indian Music), Asha Parekh, Jackie Shroff, (Special Award for dedicated services to Indian Cinema).

Apart from this, honor for social work dedicated to the famous Mumbai dabbawalas and Sanjay Chhaya for drama will also be honored.
