As per news agency report, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Nepal for a brief visit on 16th May. PTI,
This will happen of PM Modi First visit to Nepal after his re-election in 2019.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, at the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba.
His hour-long journey will take place on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha.
Prime Minister Deuba is also scheduled to attend the event along with his Indian counterpart. Deuba was in Delhi last month on his first bilateral foreign visit after becoming prime minister for the fifth time in July 2021.
During the visit, which was aimed at giving a new impetus to bilateral ties, Deuba held talks with Modi on several key issues, including the border issue.
Nepal shares a border of over 1,850 km with five Indian states – Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Himalayan nation depends heavily on India for the transportation of goods and services.
Meanwhile, PM Modi on Wednesday left for Paris for the last leg of his three-nation tour.
“Strengthened bilateral ties with Denmark. Enhanced cooperation with Nordic countries and region. PM @NarendraModi’s visit to Copenhagen comes to an end. PM Modi now leaves for Paris to hold talks with French President @EmmanuelMacron,” Ministry (MEA) spokesperson said in a tweet.
The Prime Minister said that his visit to Denmark was fruitful and included work in various fields.
PM Modi tweeted, “The events covered a wide range of fields ranging from diplomatic meetings, promotion of cultural and commercial ties and engagement with the Indian community. I thank the government and people of Denmark.”
He said the India-Nordic summit provided a great platform to discuss ways to boost ties with the Nordic countries.
“The bilateral meetings with the Nordic leaders were also fruitful. I look forward to working with them in various fields aimed at furthering prosperity,” he said.
The visit to Paris comes days after French President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected.
Earlier, PM Modi had said that the visit would not only allow him to congratulate Macron, but would also reaffirm the close friendship between the two countries.
