PM Modi US Visit: Senior Biden officials and India’s envoy welcome PM Modi in Washington

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a high-level US visit on Wednesday at the invitation of President Joe Biden, arrived in Washington DC and is scheduled to meet the global CEO today. Senior officials of the Biden administration and India’s envoy to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu received the prime minister.
PM Modi disembarked from his official plane to a crowd of Indian-Americans who had arrived at Joint Base Andrews with the Indian flag to welcome him despite the rain. PM Modi went to the people waiting at the airport and met them. The Prime Minister is expected to reach Washington at around 3.30 am. PM Modi will also attend the Quad Summit and address the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Joe Biden will host PM Modi at the White House tomorrow – the first in-person meeting between the two leaders since Biden took over as US President in January this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Washington on a three-day visit, was today accorded a warm welcome by members of the Indian community at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC. This is Prime Minister Modi’s first foreign visit beyond the neighbourhood, since the outbreak of coronavirus in January 2020.
Upon his arrival at the airport, he was received by US State Department officials at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC, including TH Brian McCain, US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources.
He was received by Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu along with Defense Attaches including Brigadier Anoop Singhal, Air Commodore Anjan Bhadra and Naval Attache Commodore Nirbhaya Bapna.
