PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway in UP on December 18

The UP Chief Minister further confirmed that the six lane expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj would be increased to eight lanes.

The decisions come ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held in 2022.

CM Yogi said, “On December 18, PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway, which will be the country’s largest expressway. This six-lane expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj, about 600 km long, will be increased to eight lanes. Will go.” Adityanath.

He further said that this expressway will be constructed at the cost of 36,000 crores.

The 450 km long Ganga Expressway has recently received environmental clearance from the State Level Environment Assessment Authority.

The expressway is ready to run from Meerut to Prayagraj on the banks of river Ganga. About 94% of the land required for the road has been acquired by the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), which aims to complete the project by 2025.

UPEIDA has divided the construction work of 594 km long Phase-1 (Meerut to Prayagraj) into 12 different packages. The total expected project value is approx. About 37,350 crores, including the cost of land acquisition 9,500 crores.
