Prime Minister Narendra Modi On March 25, he will be on a tour of the election state of Karnataka – his seventh this year – during which he will participate in various programmes, including a metro ride, and address a mega public meeting organized by the BJP.
Assembly elections are due by May and the schedule is likely to be announced by the Election Commission in the coming days.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will participate in programs organized in Chikkaballapura, Bengaluru and Davangere districts.
On reaching here that morning, the Prime Minister will fly to Chikkaballapur and inaugurate the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research there, according to an official release.
He will then fly back to Bengaluru in the afternoon to inaugurate the Whitefield Metro Line and take a Metro ride.
Modi will then proceed to Davangere to address a public meeting, and then to Shivamogga to take a flight to Delhi from the Shivamogga airport.
While the official release did not share details about the public meeting, it is said to be a big rally as part of the ruling BJP’s election preparations in Karnataka.
The Karnataka BJP and its leaders, including Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, have said Modi will participate in a mega rally on March 25 to mark the end of the 8,000-km ‘Vijay Sankalp Yatra’ in the district headquarters town of Davanagere.
The 20-day statewide tour, which started from four different parts of the state in specially designed vehicles or ‘raths’, was launched on March 1 at Male Mahadeshwara Hills in Chamarajanagar district by BJP national president JP Nadda Was. Several senior BJP leaders, chief ministers of other BJP-ruled states and central ministers participated in the programme.
This is said to be the first meeting of the party, which will be attended by the Prime Minister since preparations for the elections began in Karnataka.
According to party functionaries, the purpose of the event is to enthuse BJP workers for the assembly polls.
The BJP, which is aiming to return to power in the state with an absolute majority this time, has set a target of winning at least 150 out of the total 224 seats in the assembly.
