PM to virtually participate in ‘Griha Pravesh’ of 4.5 lakh PMAY beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Saturday, 4.5 lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh will virtually participate in the ‘Griha Pravesh’ program. An official said here that on Dhanteras, the program would start at 3 pm at BTI Ground in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

“The prime minister will conduct his ‘griha pravesh’ (ceremony when entering one’s new home) virtually,” he said. Chouhan, who reviewed the preparations for the event, earlier said that the number of houses being built in the state under PMAY has gone up from 20,000 to 25,000 per month to one lakh.

The official said that out of 48 lakh houses approved under PMAY in rural areas, 29 lakh have been constructed at a cost of Rs 35,000 crore. Under special provision, 18,342 houses were sanctioned for Guna and Sheopur districts.

“There has been an increase of 400 per cent in the PMAY (Rural) budget as compared to the last financial year. A provision of Rs 10,000 crore has been made in the current financial year. The Center will provide Rs 6,000 crore while the rest will be the state contribution,” he said. He said 51,000 ‘masons’ (masons), including 9,000 women, were trained in the state for the construction of PMAY houses.

Speaking about the event, Chouhan said that it should be memorable, and asked the beneficiaries to make ‘rangoli’ designs and light lamps to mark ‘Dhanteras’. “Various programs should be organized at district, district and village level. During the program the Prime Minister may talk to some of the beneficiaries,” the CM said.

He asked the officials to involve more and more villagers in the event and make arrangements for them to watch the telecast. He said that people should be informed about the celebrations through ‘dondi’ (announcement with drum beat).

This is the third time that Modi will participate in a public program in the state in just a month. He released imported cheetahs from Africa at Kuno National Park on 17 September and unveiled the first phase of the ‘Mahakal Lok’ temple corridor in Ujjain on 11 October.
