Thiruvananthapuram: The Ayirur police on Friday registered two POCSO cases against a 63-year-old man for raping two minor girls.
The girls, aged 11 and 12, were siblings and their father had died a few years earlier. The accused, posing as a caretaker, sexually assaulted the girls when their mother had gone out for work. The accused is unmarried and works outside the state. A few days back he had come on leave for a month. Seeing him in the wrong position inside the house, the ward member of the area intervened and told his mother about it. The incident came to light when the child protection officers counseled the girl students. Soon the police was informed.
