as a sequel to coimbatore car blast Recently, police personnel conducted an intensive vehicle check within the city limits on Thursday, October 27, 2022 and seized 10 abandoned cars and two motorcycles after checking vehicles involving Bomb Detection Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel. Along with City Patrol vehicles, intensive vehicles were checked by Assistant Commissioners of Police and Police Inspectors in their respective ranges and police stations.
The action was taken following the directions of the Director General of Police and the Chief of the Police Force in the wake of the car blast in Coimbatore a few days back. Acting on the directions of the Director General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Tiruchi, G Karthikeyan gave necessary instructions to the Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police and Inspectors of Police to track suspicious persons, identify abandoned cars. To maintain law and order in the city, two wheelers are parked in front of important government offices, places of worship and important main roads and closely checked such vehicles with BDDS personnel.
Accordingly, field level police officers along with beat constables and city patrol vehicles conducted thorough vehicle checks in their respective jurisdictions in the city. All vehicles entering the city and leaving it through nine check posts were checked by police teams. Three patrol vehicles of the highway kept watch on important bypass roads.
During a thorough investigation, police teams found nine abandoned cars near Prabhat Roundabout and another abandoned car near Ayyappan Temple on Lawson Road. Two unclaimed motorcycles were also found near the Ayyappan temple. All the abandoned vehicles were checked on the spot by the BDDS personnel, after which all of them were seized and cases were registered.
