Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee’s remarks on the I-PAC, run by political strategist Prashant Kishor, has sparked a fresh controversy. The TMC MP said, ‘The political party should run like a political party and not by a contractor.

“I have been an MP from this area, but I was never consulted on the appointment of a board of administrators in a municipal corporation. But I-PAC has appointed many people to the board of administrators. Now, I am having a tough time. Explaining this to people,” he said.

Prashant Kishor played an important role in the victory of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.

The “duare sarkar” (government at the door steps) scheme and “Bangla nijer meykei chai” (Bengal wants its daughter) slogan were some of Kishor’s masterstrokes which are believed to turn the tide in favor of TMC. Kishor’s outreach programs helped TMC regain its lost ground across the state.
