Kottayam (Kerala):
The Crime Branch of Kerala Police on Thursday raided the residence of senior Kerala politician PC George at Erattupeta in the district.
Following the raid, Mr George and his son Sean George told media persons that the claims of action taken in the 2017 assault on the actress were politically motivated.
Shine Mr George alleged that his intention was to find out what evidence his father was going to give to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
This was evident from the fact that the crime branch wanted to know what documents were in the house and also wanted to take his mobile phone, Sean George said.
The police know that if anyone wanted to send anything to PC George, they would send it to my e-mail or WhatsApp. “Hence, the evidence my father wants to submit before the ED will be on my phone,” he said. Therefore, he said, his phone cannot be given to the police.
He added, “You know what will happen to it. Won’t give it to the police, but will happily present it in court.”
Sean George said that he was close to actor Dileep and firmly believed that Dileep would not do what he has been accused of in the case.
So, whenever he saw anything on social media or any WhatsApp group that could harm the actor, he would send it to Dileep’s lawyers or brother.
He said that the phone he was using in 2019 was lost and he had lodged a complaint about the phone with the police at that time.
Former MLA PC George had said the same thing about the phone earlier in the day.
He said that when the police knew that the phone was lost, why would they come to his house to find it.
This shows that the raid was politically motivated, he alleged and said, “Well, I am always ready to face such things.” Sources said that the raid was conducted to collect evidence in connection with the 2017 actress assault case.
During the morning raid, Mr George told media persons that the police were asking for the mobile phone of his son Sean George as Dileep’s brother had called in 2019.
He said that his son had already told the police in a letter that the phone was lost in 2019.
“Now they (police) have confiscated the tab that my grandson is using for his exams,” he said.
Mr. George has in the past supported Dileep in a case in which the latter is an accused. He was arrested twice this year for allegedly making hate speeches and later released on bail.
