Politics of garbage at the center of Delhi MCD election campaign, allegations and counter allegations continue on AAP-BJP

New Delhi: Politics of ‘garbage’ played a major role in the national capital on Thursday as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reached The BJP-run Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was targeted for failing to clean up the Ghazipur landfill site and the garbage mountain.

At the landfill site, he faced some opposition by BJP workers who waved black flags and raised slogans.

North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari Claimed On Thursday, the Delhi government is spraying “toxic” ammonium phosphate at Yamuna’s Kalindi Kunj Ghat to clean the river of foam.

He further alleged that BJP workers saw a group of people spraying the chemical, and when approached, they fled, leaving behind their equipment.

The police have registered an FIR by seizing 50,000 liters of the chemical, with Tiwari also claiming that he believes the group was sent at the behest of the Delhi government.

He also said that the BJP would expose the dirty sewage managed by the PWD. PWD comes under Delhi Government.

“He didn’t go to a place which is polluted, he went to a place which is a natural landfill site,” Tiwari said.

BJP Delhi chief Adesh Gupta, who probed the Chhath ghats at ITO, claimed that even after an allocation of Rs 2,500 crore from the central government, the Delhi government gave up on cleaning the Yamuna and the ghats are still dirty.

MCD Vs Delhi Government

The face-offs between the BJP and the AAP have been frequent in Delhi in the form of clashes between the Delhi government and the MCD.

While the AAP blames the BJP-run MCD for littering the city, the BJP argues that the AAP-led Delhi government is “relentlessly lying” and has not given dues to municipalities.
