Bathinda : Punjab Government is working to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the state and very soon power supply to various areas will start, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh said while interacting with media persons after visiting ETO. Banwali thermal plant in the district Mansa on Saturday.
The Minister said that compared to the previous years, there has been a 40% increase in the demand for electricity due to the early summer. Some units of thermal plants have developed technical faults, some have been repaired, while others will soon start generating electricity.
After inspecting the Central Control Room of Banawali Thermal Plant, the Minister said that there are three units. Talwandi Sabo Power Limited Each produces 660 MW of electricity. One unit of 660 MW is closed due to maintenance.
The officers have been instructed to start this unit within a week. He also said that efforts are being made to ensure that there is no shortage of coal in thermal plants. The coal supply from Pachwara coal mine in Jharkhand is expected to start soon.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Vijay Singla said that to deal with power cuts, special arrangements have been made with regard to backup in the hospitals of the state so that it does not adversely affect the patients.
PSPCL CMD Baldev Singh SarnoDirector Generation Paramjit Singh was also present.
