Pradeep Kumar will replace Jayaram Bhat as the new chairman of Karnataka Bank

P. Pradeep Kumar took over as the chairman of Karnataka Bank in Bengaluru on Monday for a period of three years with effect from November 14, 2021, in place of P. Jayaram Bhat.

Taking charge as the Part-time Non-Executive Chairman, Mr. Kumar said, “I am privileged to hold the position of Chairman of Karnataka Bank, a legacy institution with a successful banking history of more than 97 years. As we move towards the centenary year of the Bank, I seek the whole hearted support of all the staff members to take the Bank to greater heights.

Welcoming the new Chairman, Managing Director and CEO MS Mahabaleshwar said, “A seasoned banker with nearly four decades of banking experience at SBI, the country’s largest bank, I am sure Karnataka Bank will write a new chapter in its growth journey. Under the guidance of Mr. Kumar and set new benchmarks in Corporate Governance in the days to come.

Mr Kumar, who retired as Managing Director and Group Executive (Corporate Banking) of State Bank of India, was till now an independent director on the board of Karnataka Bank.

Born on 2 October 1955, he holds a master’s degree in statistics from the University of Madras. Joined SBI in 1976 as a Probationary Officer, Mr. Kumar was the Managing Director of State Bank of Travancore during 2010-11.

Karnataka Bank on Monday launched the CASA (Current Account and Savings Account) campaign for the financial year 2021-22 and introduced a new current account scheme ‘KBL Current Account – Premium’, specially designed to meet the needs of small and medium entrepreneurs. is designed to do.

With this campaign, the bank aims to offer an attractive and superior range of digitally powered savings account products to its potential customers.
