This is the second incident when a BJP MLA has been accused of rape. In the last incident, nine months ago, another woman from Madhya Pradesh had filed a complaint against Gameti alleging rape on the pretext of marriage.
TOI contacted Gameti for his statement on the allegations, but he declined to comment. “I will talk about it tomorrow (Friday),” he said. Gameti is MLA from Gogunda for two consecutive terms.
In the latest incident, the police have registered an FIR against Gameti at Ambamata police station in Udaipur on the complaint of the woman. The case was registered late on Wednesday night after the medical examination of the complainant. The investigation of the case has been handed over to the state’s CID Crime Branch, which is authorized to probe the allegations against the MLAs and MPs.
According to the police, the woman has alleged in her complaint that she was in search of domestic work during the lockdown and contacted the MLA. Gameti asks him to stay with her on the pretext of helping. He assured the women to marry him and raped her several times. Police said he alleged that whenever he talked about marriage, he was threatened with dire consequences.
Based on the complaint, the police recorded his statement and based on his complaint, the investigation will proceed. The woman alleges that Gameti has lied to her many times. Gameti was constantly in touch with me over the phone. He assured me of marriage and kept me in the dark. Disturbed by this, I wanted to commit suicide but Gameti stopped it on the assurance that he would marry me. The accused also took the victim to a flat in Jaipur and had physical relations with her. He also got her to sign two stamp papers at a farm house in Debari.
The victim has demanded justice from the police in her complaint. She wants to marry him and if she doesn’t then strict action should be taken against her for cheating.
