Pratt & Whitney, India’s Aviros launches AI-based aircraft engine inspection tool Percept

paris [France]June 20 (ANI): Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies (RTX) which is into design, manufacturing and service of aircraft engines, on Tuesday announced that it launched an advanced AI-based aircraft engine analysis tool – Percept Is. at the week-long Paris Air Show.

Percept is a product that runs on top of Indian startup Aviros’ video intelligence operating system (OS). Its cloud-based interface allows users to capture images and videos of aircraft engines on their mobile devices and receive real-time feedback on parts availability.

The tool, according to a release, instead of having an inspector inspect an engine and check it part-by-part, it automates the inspection and reduces the time by about 90 percent.

“The Percept tool helps reduce the time and effort spent on pre- and post-lease analysis of aircraft engines,” said O Sung Kwan, Vice President, Customer Support, Pratt & Whitney.

“We have been working with Aviros, an Indian computer vision and artificial intelligence (AI) start-up, for the past few years to mature this technology; We are excited to bring operational products from technology development to market now.

Awiros was selected as the winner of the RTX Innovation Challenge.

“Building Percept Tools in collaboration with RTX has been one of the most exciting opportunities in Aviros’ journey as a startup,” said Vikram Gupta, Founder and CEO of Aviros.

The Percept solution will be deployed exclusively on Pratt & Whitney’s most advanced commercial engines, including the Pratt & Whitney GTFTM engine and the V2500. (ANI)
