In state capital Lucknow, police have arrested four of the eight Muslim men who were seen offering prayers at the mall on July 12. Video of Namazis went viral and some Hindu organizations alleging violation of communal harmony by those using the public place for religious activities. These right-wing organizations sought permission to recite Hanuman Chalisa there as a counter, which was refused.
Then, three Hindu men were arrested as they were trying to offer prayers on 15 July. Another Muslim man was arrested for trying to offer prayers. Apart from these, more than 10 people were booked the next day. Two arrested for trying to offer Namaz and shouting slogans.
The management has put up a board saying, “No religious prayer will be allowed in the mall.”
