In almost the last action of the game, Cody led a cross from substitute Chicinho.

Wolves were lagging behind for most of the game after Chelsea’s out-of-form striker Romelu Lukaku scored twice in the second-half minutes.

Lukaku, who had not scored in the league since December, claimed his first from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, when a lengthy VAR investigation concluded he had been fouled by Romain Sass inside the field.

He took his second place with a fine strike from 20 meters after being planted by Christian Pulisic.

But, Wolves snatched a goal back in the 79th minute through substitute Francisco Trincao and then increased the pressure, giving Chelsea, who sit third on the table, a nervous finish to consolidate their Champions League spot.

The terms of Chelsea’s sale to a consortium led by Los Angeles Dodgers part owner Todd Boehley and backed by Clearlake Capital, a private equity firm, were agreed earlier on Saturday.
