The Premier League has decided to abandon some of its COVID-19 emergency measures following a decision at Thursday’s shareholder meeting.

“At today’s Premier League shareholders meeting, it was decided to remove a number of COVID-19 emergency measures from 11 February. While the need to ensure social distancing indoors is maintained, there are restrictions such as wearing face coverings in indoor areas and limiting treatment. The timing will be removed,” the Premier League said in a statement.

“Lateral-flow testing for players and relevant club staff will return twice weekly from 14 February. The Premier League’s COVID-19 emergency measures are under regular review, intended to expire at the end of this month. has been,” it added.

The rules were eased after a second wave of the virus last summer, but intensified again a few months later as the Omicron version hit the UK. The first batch of measures will be rolled out from February 11, while the rest will expire at the end of the month.
