New Delhi: Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal Prime Minister on Tuesday Narendra ModiIt decided to modernize 14,500 schools “a drop of water in the sea” and to prepare a plan in consultation with all states to upgrade one million government schools in the country over the next five years.
“At this rate, it will take 70-80 years to improve all the 10.5 lakh schools in the country,” Kejriwal said at an online press conference here, a day after Modi announced the school upgradation scheme.
Kejriwal said that India cannot become the number one country in the world without ensuring free quality education for every child.
On Monday, Modi announced that 14,500 schools across the country would be developed and upgraded under the ‘PM-Shri Yojana’ and would be equipped with modern infrastructure including labs, smart classrooms, libraries and sports facilities.
“It is a great thing, but modernizing just 14,500 schools is like a drop of water in the sea,” Kejriwal said. “I appeal to the Prime Minister to modernize all 10.5 lakh government schools in the country.”
The Chief Minister said that he has often said that many things need to be done to make India the number one country in the world.
He said that India cannot progress unless free high-class education is ensured to every child of the country.
“A big mistake happened after India got independence. We should have ensured good quality education and schools in every village and corner of the country. If everyone was educated, India would not have been a poor country,” Kejriwal said.
He said he would launch Aam Aadmi PartyOn Wednesday, from his hometown Hisar in Haryana, he undertook a “Make India No 1” campaign and later visited other states to connect people with the movement.
He said that anyone who wants to join the campaign can call on 95100 01000.
The campaign is announced by AAP leading the race Lok Sabha Elections in 2024 as part of a plan to expand the party base.
Kejriwal said, “Despite 75 years of independence, we are still backward. 130 crore people have a dream that India should become the best country in the world.
He said, “India has not developed because of its politicians and unless people unite and work as a team and family, things will not change. If this happens, then no power will make India the world Can’t stop it from becoming the number one country.”
