Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 341 km long Purvanchal Expressway at Karwal Kheri in Sultanpur district, which has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 22,500 crores.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Purvanchal Expressway at Karwal Kheri in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. He landed at the runway in an Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. A 3.2 km long highway runway has been built to facilitate emergency landing of fighter aircraft. The expressway was inaugurated in the presence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel. The Prime Minister also witnessed an air show by the Indian Air Force. The expressway has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 22,500 crore.

Purvanchal Expressway will connect state capital Lucknow with Ghazipur and will reduce the travel time from 6 hours to 3.5 hours. It starts from Chandsarai village in Lucknow and ends at Haidaria village located on NH31 in Ghazipur, about 18 km from the UP-Bihar border.
Addressing a rally in Sultanpur, the Prime Minister said, “When I laid the foundation stone of the Purvanchal Expressway 3 years ago, I never thought that I would one day land on a plane here. This highway will provide access to the poor, middle class. Benefit will be there, farmers and traders. This is for the development of UP and will lead to a better future at a faster pace.”
Purvanchal Expressway will reduce the travel time between Lucknow to Ghazipur from 6 hours to 3.5 hours.
