The AINRC-led NDA government in Puducherry has reduced the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel. ₹7 per litre, which came into force with immediate effect.
Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy said that with the reduction in excise duty on petrol by the Center ₹5 and on diesel ₹10, the state government decided to reduce VAT on petroleum products ₹7. The CM hoped that this would benefit the public, farmers, industrialists and the transport sector.
VAT on petrol in Puducherry was 23%, due to which the sale of petrol ₹107.79. VAT has been reduced to 14.55% and the price of petrol here will now be 94.94.
Petrol price in Karaikal will be reduced to Rs 94.69 per liter, an official release said. ₹107.52. The price of petrol in Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala, will now be ₹from 92.52 ₹105.32 per litre.
Similarly, in Yanam, VAT has been reduced from 23.70 per cent (on petrol price per litre) to 15.26%. ₹from 95.59 ₹108.47). Diesel price has come down ₹19.08 per liter in Puducherry, ₹19.06 In Karaikal, ₹18.92 in months and ₹19.11 With VAT in the Yanam region the range is now between 6.91% and 8.65%.
Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said in the notification that the file regarding reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel as decided by the government has been approved and the reduced price has come into force with immediate effect.
On Wednesday, the central government had reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by a record. ₹5 more ₹10 per liter respectively.
