Puducherry government will provide assistance for setting up pharmaceutical companies: Rangaswamy

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Monday said the government would extend all possible assistance to companies interested in setting up pharmaceutical companies in the Union Territory.

Addressing an ex-investor meeting jointly organized by the Drug Control Department and Pondicherry Drug Manufacturers Association, the Chief Minister said that systems would be put in place to expedite the setting up of pharmaceutical companies.

The union territory once had a large number of pharmaceutical companies, but over the years, the number of pharma industries declined due to various reasons. The government was taking steps to utilize the unused land acquired for Special Economic Zones in Puducherry and Karaikal regions. Mr. Rangasamy said that efforts would be made to set up pharmaceutical companies in the land available there.
