Pune : Crime Branch Pimpri Chinchwad Police Six gangs involved in police recruitment examination fraud have been busted after the arrest of 56 out of a total of 121 people during the six-month investigation.
Police said that apart from the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Recruitment Examination, these gangs were also involved in malpractices during the examinations of other police units of the state.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Pimpri Chinchwad) Sanjay Shinde told TOI, “Out of the 56 people arrested, 31 are candidates who have cleared various stages of police recruitment.”
Five suspects were taken into custody on 22 August BurnAurangabad and beed districts, he said.
The police have seized 76 cell phones, 66 electronic spying devices, 22 walkie-talkie sets, over 100 Bluetooth devices and Rs 11 lakh from them.
Pimpri Chinchwad Police had conducted the written examination on November 19 last year to fill up 720 posts of constables in six different districts.
Senior Inspector of Crime Branch Machindra Pandit said that during the verification process, it was found that there was a difference in the photograph in the form and signature of a candidate from Aurangabad. During interrogation, the candidate admitted that he had passed the physical test through a dummy candidate. “Another candidate had used an electronic spying device during the written test,” Pandit said.
