Pune: Three minor siblings drown in water-filled pit Chakni On Tuesday, the police told the area of Pune district of Maharashtra.
Children in the age group of four to eight years drowned while bathing in a pit in a field in Ambethan village near Chakan, an official of the Mhalunge police station said.
He said that Rakesh Kishore Das (5), his brother Rohit (8) and sister Shweta (4) had landed in the pit, which was dug by a farmer near their house and water had accumulated in it due to rain.
When a person saw the clothes kept near the pit, he got suspicious. After the search, the bodies were taken out and sent for post-mortem, the official said.
The parents of the victims are from Bihar and work as laborers here, he said, adding that a case of accidental death has been registered in this regard.
