Puneet Rajkumar has donated his eyes

Popular Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, son of Kannada cinema legend Rajkumar, died of a heart attack on Friday at the age of 46. As a result, security has been beefed up across Karnataka. The hospital said in a statement, “Puneet Rajkumar was brought to Vikram Hospital today, with an ECG done by a family doctor diagnosed as having a heart attack. At the time of reaching the emergency, the patient was non-responsive and had cardiac asystole. Was in Declared dead at 2.30 am.”

Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar and former Union Minister SM Krishna condoled Puneeth’s untimely demise.

According to family sources, Puneet suffered a heart attack while working out in the gym. He was immediately shifted to Vikram Hospital. Ranganath Nayak said his condition was critical when he was brought to the hospital. But the doctors’ efforts to revive him went in vain.

Puneet’s health deteriorated on Thursday evening but he did not go to the doctor. He went to the gym in the morning and started having chest pain. She was taken to a private clinic where ECG was done. During the investigation, his condition deteriorated and he was taken to Vikram Hospital, where he died due to cardiac arrest.

Puneet donated his eyes. He is survived by wife Ashwini and daughters Vandita and Dhriti.

Security has been beefed up in the entire state including the state capital Bengaluru to control the situation. The Kannada film industry has collapsed and all film shows in the state have been cancelled.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has reached Puneet’s residence in Sadashivnagar. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Kannada actor Puneeth’s elder brother Shivarajkumar are also expected to address the media soon.

Puneet was born on 17 March 1975 and was affectionately known as ‘Appu’. He was also a singer, television presenter and producer. He acted in more than 29 films and also acted as a child artist in many films. He won the National Film Award for Best Child Actor for his role in ‘Bettada Hoovu’. She made her debut in the Kannada film industry in 2002 with the film Appu.
