Chandigarh: BJP will contest on all 117 seats Punjab Punjab BJP President said that in the upcoming assembly elections in the state Ashwini Sharma, who is virtually attending the party’s national executive meeting being held in the national capital on Sunday.
Assembly elections are to be held in Punjab in 2022.
In the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress secured an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and ousted the SAD-BJP government after 10 years.
Aam Aadmi Party emerged as the second largest party by winning 20 seats out of 117 members Punjab Legislative Assembly. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) managed to win only 15 seats, while BJP got 3 seats.
Prime minister Narendra Modi, home Minister Amit Shah And BJP President JP Nadda is attending the party’s national executive meeting. The discussion is expected to be on the election strategy in the seven states that will vote next year.
