The Congress’s Punjab Central Election Committee (CEC) on Thursday finalized the names of around 73 candidates for next month’s assembly elections. Discussion was held on 78 seats but decision could not be taken on 5 seats. The CEC will meet again on Friday to finalize the list. According to reports, out of the 78 names that are being discussed, only 2 are female candidates. The leaders agreed on greater participation of women representatives.

Sources close to party leaders said that Channi’s contest from two seats will also affect the surrounding areas.

A total of 73 names have been finalized in today’s meeting. If sources are to be believed, the candidates for 5 seats have not been decided as the party is yet to come to a conclusion whether these should reach the senior leaders of the party or not.
