Punjab Police conducting special search operation at all bus stands, railway stations in the state

Chandigarh Punjab Police on Sunday launched a special cordon and search operation at all bus stands and railway stations across the state.

This action was taken on the instructions of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

CASO was carried out simultaneously across the state from 2 pm to 6 pm, under which police teams along with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) teams with the help of sniffer dogs checked railway stations and bus stands, a police statement said. But people coming and going were searched. Said.

Police teams nabbed 115 people and registered 62 First Information Reports (FIRs) against anti-social elements.

The police have also recovered 900 grams of heroin and 1.2 kg of opium, besides illicit liquor and intoxicating pills from the accused persons, the statement said.

Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, who is personally monitoring the state-level campaign, said that all police commissioners and senior superintendents of police have been asked to mobilize maximum number of policemen to make the campaign a success.

“We had strictly instructed all the police personnel to behave in a friendly and courteous manner with each and every person while searching each and every person during this operation,” he said.

He said that 550 patrolling teams comprising 5,500 police personnel along with CAPF teams were deputed across the state to search for suspicious persons at various railway stations and bus stands of the state while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the public.

He said that around 3,304 people were screened during the operation carried out at bus stands and railway stations in the state.
