Rome: President of Ukraine Volodymyr zelensky says he is ready to speak with the Russian president Vladimir Putin And that “we have to make a compromise,” but without an ultimatum without any conditions.
Zelensky also told the Italian RAI State TV in an interview broadcast on Thursday night that Ukraine will never recognize Crimea as part of Russiawhich occupied that part of southern Ukraine in 2014.
“Crimea has always had its autonomy, it has a parliament, but inside Ukraine,” Zelensky said in interview excerpts that RAI released earlier on Thursday.
The interviewer asked the Ukrainian leader about a remark by the French President Emmanuel Macron Warned against any insult to Putin.
“We want the Russian army to leave our land, we are not on Russian soil,” Zelensky replied. “We will not save Putin’s face by paying from our territory. That would be injustice.”
In another comment, Zelensky voiced a forward-looking note. “We have to think about the future of Russia. I, as the President of Ukraine, say that these are our neighbors. There will be other presidents of Russia, other presidents and other generations”, Zelensky said.
