The tableaux displayed during the Republic Day parade in Chennai were displayed in Salem on Thursday. The exhibition continues on Friday as well.
In order to create awareness among the public about the contribution of the freedom fighters of the state in the freedom struggle, tableaux are being put up for demonstration in different districts of the state.
The tableau reached Salem district on Wednesday evening and Shankari Revenue Divisional Officer K. Vediyappan welcomed him at the district border and offered floral tributes. The tableau will be held at Nigam Maidan near New Bus Stand. On Thursday, school students visited the tableau. The students also gave cultural presentations.
DMK MLA R. Rajendran paid floral tributes at the tableau. District Collector S. Karmegham also visited the premises. Among the tableaux were sculptures of poets Subramaniam Bharathi, VO Chidambaranar, Subramaniam Shiva and Salem Vijayaraghavachavari.
