The Save the soil movement, launched last month by Sadhguru, Founder, Isha Foundation, has become a major force in drawing global attention to soil extinction and continues to receive support from Bollywood celebrities, singers and sportspersons. Many celebs including Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Prem Chopra, Mouni Roy, Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty, Manisha Koirala have come forward to show their concern towards soil erosion and have extended their support. From Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Diljit Dosanjh and Maluma to cricketers like Harbhajan Singh, Matthew Hayden, Vivian Richards and AB de Villiers.
Sharing a video message on Twitter, actor R Madhavan said, “According to the World Economic Forum, 60% of the world’s population has some kind of nutritional deficiency. Scientists are also discovering that people from affluent families suffer from malnutrition – this is called hidden hunger. Your stomach is full so you do not know it but your body is suffering from this effect of malnutrition. The food we eat lacks essential elements because our soil is dying. There is not enough organic material in it. If we do not keep our soil healthy then we and future generations cannot remain healthy. It’s time to save the soil. Join me in my efforts to save the soil and build a healthy and sustainable planet.”

Bollywood’s iconic villain Prem Chopra came out in support of the movement. Actor Sharman Joshi, his son-in-law shared his video, where the veteran actor reminded people that soil is not a passive object but a living thing that nourishes us. Emphasizing on the urgent need of policy actions towards saving the soil, he urged people to spread the message on their social media. He wondered, “If Sadhguru ji can travel 30,000 km at the age of 65 to save soil, why can’t we tweet every day to raise awareness among people?”
Thanking the veteran actor for his support, Sadhguru replied, “Mitti is a mother like no other. No life can be saved from her embrace. If our humanity is alive in our hearts, we must listen to her call of distress. Must answer and turn that into a song. Let’s do it. -SG”
