The popular brand was criticized by social media users following Mr Goenka’s tweet.
Since being posted, the post has been viewed over 30,000 times on Twitter and triggered a range of reactions on social media. While some debated the need for skin-colored matching Band-Aids, others labeled it as a “racist product”.
One user wrote, “The essence of marketing. ‘Needs’ creation. Filling the gaps in the human mind.”
Another user wrote, “Why do Band-Aids only come in ‘flesh’ color when skin colors are so diverse?
“Sometimes these band-aids are used to protect the foot from shoe bites. It makes sense for that purpose,” explained the third user.
A fourth expressed concern, saying, “Why would anyone do that? If you’re hurt, put on a Band-Aid and deal with it, not go looking for a matching skin tone. Weird.”
A fifth user wrote, “This really means a lot to people of color. So please don’t just say things without deep understanding. You have no idea how much people suffer just because of the color of their skin.”
