Sydney Sixers spinner believes experience will help Indian team in World Cup
Radha Yadav has been busy lately catching the white cricket ball and attention.
Her two brilliant catches in the Women’s Big Bash League made headlines, and her left-arm spin has been quite effective for the Sydney Sixers as well.
Radha is happy that not only she but the entire Indian contingent is doing well in the highly competitive T20 Women’s League Down Under. India’s T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur of Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder all-rounder Deepti Sharma were adjudged the player of the match on Sunday. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana had scored 50 for Thunder in the same game against Hobart Hurricanes.
Shafali Verma (Sydney Sixers), Jemima Rodrigues (Melbourne Renegades), Richa Ghosh (Hobart Hurricanes) and Poonam Yadav (Brisbane Heat) have also made their appearances in the WBBL. “It’s great that our players have come (in the competition) and put up great performances,” Radha said in a virtual interaction with select media on Tuesday.
“It makes me proud. I hope we continue to perform like this and try to win the World Cup (early next year).
He believes that the experience of playing in the WBBL will really help the Indian team in the World Cup to be held in New Zealand in February-March. “There are a lot of world class players playing in the WBBL, which will help us a lot,” she said.
