Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Rahul Dravid said that the team would have put in a better show with both bat and ball in the fourth Test, while also clarifying that performance parameters change when playing on challenging wickets.
He said, “We have to work on both the batting and bowling (departments). If you see the Indore Test, 109 in the first innings was not enough. It would have been better if we had scored 60-70 more runs. “They also gave away a few extra runs in the first innings in that position and those conditions. So we have to do better in both areas of the game,” Dravid said at the pre-match press conference here.
India are currently leading the 4-match Test series 2-1 and will be eyeing a massive record in the fourth Test. If they manage to win the series, it will be their 16th consecutive series win at home. Dravid further said that when the game is played on wickets that are as challenging as the ones presented in these series, they don’t focus much on numbers.

“It’s really about being realistic about what a good performance is on some of the challenging wickets we’re playing on. Not just here, but I think about the last several matches. I mean I think That if you look at the last three or four years around the world, I think the wickets have generally, you know, I think, become a lot more challenging. So you just have to be realistic about that. Now what are the benchmarks, what are the standards, just understand that even in these kinds of sports,” he added.
The last test is to be held on March 9, 2022 in Ahmedabad.
