Chitradurga (Karnataka) [India]Aug 3 (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi offers prayers at Sri Jagadguru Murugarajendra Vidyapeeth in Chitradurga district of Karnataka on Wednesday.

Gandhi posted several photographs of himself on Facebook and wrote, “Offered humble respects at Shri Jagadguru Murugarajendra Vidyapeeth, Chitradurga in the presence of its President Dr.Shri Shivmurthy Murugh Sharanaru and senior leaders.”

In his post on Facebook, Rahul lauded the contribution of the Vidyapeeth in empowering people across the state. “The Vidyapeeth is engaged in commendable efforts to empower the people of rural and remote areas through 150 educational and cultural institutions. His work has helped uplift countless lives and is an inspiration to all,” Rahul Gandhi further said in the same Facebook post.

The Congress leader also honored the President of the Vidyapeeth, Dr. Shivmurthy Murugh Sharanaru by presenting him a shawl. Gandhi received ‘Ishtalinga Diksha’ from Murugh Sharanaru. He was also honored by the seer and presented a portrait of Basavanna. Later, the leader said on Twitter, “The teachings of Guru Basavanna are eternal and I am humbled to learn more about it from the refugee of the Math.”
