Rahul Gandhi to address rally in Uttarakhand on December 16

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Voters on December 16 will address a rally in Uttarakhand and honor ex-servicemen to mark the 50th anniversary of India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.

Gandhi’s proposed program is being seen in political circles as a retaliation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rally here on Saturday.

State Congress President Ganesh Godiyal said that Gandhi would honor ex-servicemen on this occasion for their contribution to the nation.

Though Saturday’s rally at Parade Ground here was the prime minister’s first election rally in Uttarakhand, he has visited the state thrice in recent months.

He visited to inaugurate the oxygen plant at AIIMS, Rishikesh on 4 October and reconstruction projects at Kedarnath on 5 November besides unveiling his statue at the Samadhi of Adi Guru Shankaracharya.
