Raj Bhavan honored top 11 institutes in Tamil Nadu Chennai News – Times of India

The Governor felicitated the representatives of 11 institutions securing top 10 rankings in various categories.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Thursday said that institutions of excellence in various streams should come together for cross fertilization of ideas. The Governor was speaking after inaugurating a conference on ‘Excellence of Higher Education in Tamil Nadu’ at the Raj Bhavan.
The conclave was organized by Raj Bhavan to felicitate 10 top ranking institutions of the state as per the National Institute Ranking Framework.
“Every university that I have visited has been doing some excellent work in the field of study, research, innovation or its own administration for so many years. This should be shared with others and should not be limited to them. Every institution will have best practices to help others assess their strengths and weaknesses and develop better,” the governor said.
He said that when educational institutions are excellent, the country excels.
In the state, government and private institutions should cooperate and in turn they should cooperate with central institutions. “The aim of higher education is the same,” he said.
Congratulating the top 10 ranked institutions, the Governor said that they should continue to strive to remain at the top, while others should improve to compete with them. He felicitated the representatives of 11 institutions securing top 10 rankings in various categories.
Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi said that institutions in Tamil Nadu have secured top rankings in almost all categories. In all, 163 institutions of the state were featured. He said that more government institutions should join the competition.
“Presidency College is the only government institution that has made it to the top 10 rankings,” he said.
Health Minister Ma Subramaniam said that Christian Medical College, Vellore, is one such institution which has made full use of Mukhyamantri Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. He said, “So far, 83 lakh people have benefited through the health insurance scheme and added that 1,00,001 accident victims have thought of the Nammai Kakkum 48 scheme. The latest patient is undergoing treatment at Savita Hospital, ” They said.
