Six more institutes of pharmaceutical education and research to be accorded the status of Institute of National Importance

The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2021, under which six more pharmaceutical education and research institutes in Mohali will be accorded the status of Institute of National Importance, apart from one; Undergraduate and diploma courses were introduced in them; And constituted an advisory council for them.

The bill was passed by voice vote. this was it Lok Sabha approved on 6 December,

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, while replying to the discussion on the bill, said, “During COVID-19, we held meetings with drug manufacturers and assured them to remove all hurdles for research and manufacturing of vaccines in record time.” He said it is due to the policies of the government that 85% of the eligible population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

He also claimed that three out of 10 NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) scientists in the US were Indians and that earlier qualified candidates were not getting the right opportunities in India.
