Think cinema and innovation today and you immediately think of Rakshit Shetty. The actor who saw success with films like Kirik Party Known to tread with equal ease on both commercial and offbeat roads. Not only this, Rakshit never hesitated to play unusual roles on screen and we have seen it in movies. Tughlaq, Ulidavaru Khandante, Ricky,Godi Banna Sadhna Mykattu.
Now the actor is not only celebrating the success of his latest film 777 Charlie, but was released today (after a successful stint in theatre) on Voot Select. the actor talks metroplus About the film, its production and OTT release.
were you expecting? 777 Charlie To become so big?
Honestly, yes. The film was completed about a year and a half ago. We thought whether we should wait for a theatrical release or go straight for an OTT release. But, once I saw the film, I was sure that it would be a theatrical release. So we waited for the right time and then released it; I was sure that this theme will be liked by the audience.
Kiran Raj is the new director. How did you believe his idea?
Kiran worked with me Kirik Party And Ricky, He is one of the most passionate and dedicated assistant directors I have ever worked with. So when he narrated this story to me, there was no doubt in producing the film for Paramvah.
just before 777 Charlie Many star-driven, Kannada films were released in several Indian languages, hitting the screens. Did you feel threatened by it? especially because there wasn’t even a huge publicity for it 777 Charlie?
The films that made their mark in all the five languages were mass driven films. 777 Charlie It’s a niche film. We know there are dog lovers across the country and we wanted to enter that market. We also knew that the usual promotional methods did not work for this film.
We just wanted to let people know that this was a movie about a dog and the audience started advertising it through word of mouth for the audience to see it. That’s what we expected. We also did 21 premiere shows across the country before the release of the film so that people would talk about it. And that’s why we got our first Full House in theatres.
We have heard that you gave 10% of the profit of the film to the film unit….
we did it for Kirik Party also, before 777 Charlie, At Paramwah we believe that if a film makes money, then everyone who works for it should also make money. We believe in the kind of energy that people bring when we work together. It also makes everyone a part of the success or failure of the film. This was the idea behind sharing the profits among the crew members as well.
Did you know that pet adoptions increased after 777 Charlie?
Adopting pets was also one of our intentions when we got into shooting. The second objective was to encourage people to adopt Indy dogs and not buy dogs. If 100 people adopt an indie dog after watching 777 CharlieThe film has certainly served its purpose.
How do you feel about the film releasing on Voot Select?
I am happy to have this association with Voot Select. I also believe that once a film comes on the OTT platform, its reach also increases. The OTT platform gets increased subscription and the film reaches a wider audience. It works for both sides.
